M1 Max

M1 Max features a 10-core CPU and up to 32 GPU cores, coupled with 400GB/s of memory bandwidth and up to 64GB of unified memory. It includes a 16-core Neural Engine and a powerful media engine with H.264 and HEVC support and ProRes encode and decode.

M1 Max can easily run multiple pro applications at the same time. It is equally capable of handling CPU-intensive tasks like photo editing and compiling code and GPU-driven tasks like creating motion graphics and processing complex video effects. The Neural Engine can speed through machine learning work, while the dedicated media engine lets you play back up to nine streams of 8K ProRes 422 video.² 

M1 Ultra

A fusion of two M1 Max dies, M1 Ultra features a 20-core CPU and up to 64 GPU cores, a 32-core Neural Engine, and 800GB/s of memory bandwidth. It also includes an even more advanced media engine that lets you play back up to 18 streams of 8K ProRes 422 video.²

M1 Ultra brings mind-bending processing power and bandwidth for even the most challenging workflows, like building elaborate 3D models, crunching massive data sets, and training machine learning models.

M1 Ultra also lets you configure your Mac Studio with up to 128GB of unified memory. This is an enormous amount of RAM, which can dramatically improve performance when you’re working with very large files such as augmented reality models, music scores with huge virtual instrument libraries, or complex 8K video timelines.

Memory:

M1 Max and M1 Ultra bring blazing-fast unified memory (RAM) to Mac Studio. This single pool of high-bandwidth, low-latency memory allows apps to share data between the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine efficiently. You can multitask with ease, and everything you do is fast and fluid.

The more memory your Mac Studio has, the more apps you can run simultaneously and the better they will perform. This Mac Studio comes standard with 32GB of memory, which can be expanded to 64GB with M1 Max. If you choose M1 Ultra, the standard memory is 64GB, which can be expanded to a staggering 128GB — unlocking entirely new workflows for pro users.

Storage:

This Mac Studio comes standard with 512GB of superfast SSD storage,¹ featuring up to 7.4GB/s sequential read and write speeds.³ You can configure it with up to 8TB, giving you more space to store your documents, photos, music, videos, and apps.
